Yetta Delorease
Chambers White
Jun 17, 1937 — Jul 15, 2025
Yetta Delorease Chambers White of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025.
Yetta was a romantic who loved music, dancing, poetry, the beach, and driving her convertible "The Little White Streak" with the top down. She loved Bob's Burgers and Family Guy as much as she loved Britbox and Golden Girls. She loved the sun, and said even a little bit energized her. She was a gym rat, and loved her "Y friends" in Memphis and her beloved Sarasota. She loved flowers, and grew big tubs filled with zinnias every summer. She laughed easily, often giggling to the point of tears. She loved holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. She took up crochet during the Pandemic and made so many blankets for so many babies. She was a wife and mother and homemaker and artist and friend, and she was "Grammy" to so many, and yet she was a mystery. She was the brightest of spirits in a world that often seems full of darkness.
Yetta is deeply missed by husband Kenneth Hugh White, "her girls" Robin (Eben) and Lisa (Jeremy), grandsons Maximillian and Ethan, sister Zoe, nieces Leslie, Bella & Edie, nephew Dustin. Her beloved cats Sassy and Lovey, and her constant companion little Lucy also mourn.
She was preceded in death by her parents Milford Faxon Chambers and Delorease Blankenship Chambers.
Yetta never wanted a funeral service, and always urged us to celebrate life. If you would like to honor her memory, please consider a donation to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (https://selby.org/support/donate-today/) or the Friends of Bosque Del Apache (https://friendsofbosquedelapache.org/donate-now/).
