Obituary

Timothy Scott McNeill, 59 of Memphis, passed away January 16, 2021. He leaves 2 brothers, Michael Allen McNeill of Lake Ozark, MO, Alton Douglas McNeill of Horn Lake, MS, and sister, Pamela Louise (McNeill) Savoy of Gonzales, LA.

Tim was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Mary Ann, his father, Alton B. McNeill, and his mother, Mary Nell (Parks) McNeill.

Tim was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout.  He was also a member of the Indian Dance Team that performed at both Camp Currier and Camp Kia Kima. He was a former member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church Puppet Ministry, spreading God's word to children around the Mid-South. More recently, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and loved flying Cessna airplanes. Tim also enjoyed sport parachuting. On more than one occasion when family asked, "Why jump out of a perfectly good aircraft?"  Tim answered, "Because the door was open". Tim was an avid storm-chaser who began tracking weather with the purchase of a Hamm Radio. Communication shaped his IT professional career which began in the 1980s. Building and maintaining computers was second nature to our brother.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim's memorial service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, we respectfully ask everyone to consider donating to the youth department at Union Avenue Baptist Church in Tim's memory. UABC continues to invest in the youth of midtown just as they did 50 years ago with our brother, Tim.

Join us by donating in Tim's memory.
