Stephen Adams
Witt
Jan 26, 1950 — May 23, 2022
Memphis
Stephen Adams Witt was born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 26, 1950. Above all things, Steve was a born-again Christian and the teachings of Jesus were evident in his life and love for his family and friends. He graduated from Oakhaven High School in 1968 and shortly after decided to serve our country in the Army National Guard for three years. Following his service, he worked at Waterways and the Economy Boat Store. After his time on the river, he translated his love of music into co-ownership of a bar called the High Roller, which featured artists like The Police and Pat Benatar. He retired working in home improvement at The Cur-Low Company and Champion Windows and Home Exteriors.
Steve was blessed to meet the love of his life and wife of 44 years, Mary Witt, who he married August 18, 1978. He passed on his love of music, the outdoors, art, and care for others to his four children; Amy Hensley, Jerry Loudermilk, Renee Abel, and Stevie Collins; and his seven grandchildren; Alex Hensley, Jessica Lytle, Kelsea Abel, Sophie Abel, Allie and Adalyn Collins, and Joshua Abel.
Steve was also a lifelong Memphis Tigers fan, particularly their football and basketball teams. He enjoyed the beauty and adventure of God's creation, his hobbies including sailing, camping, fishing, and gardening. Steve also rendered his appreciation of nature through painting and drawing.
Steve is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, and his brother Sam Witt. He is preceded in death by his sisters Francis Cantrell and Jacqueline Hodoval. Steve was full of life and will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones. He will be especially remembered for the endless love he gave as a husband, father, grandpa, and friend.
