Stephanie Rush
Brigman
Dec 30, 1952 — Sep 27, 2024
Memphis
Stephanie Rush Brigman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 30, 1952, in Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of Harold Rush and Jacqueline Williams Collins Rush
Stephanie was a devoted wife to her husband, Gordon, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage. Together, they spent countless hours sitting outside, planning and taking trips, and enjoying morning cups of coffee.
A loving mother to her daughter, Dr. Amanda Lashley, and son-in-law, Dr. Kent Lashley, Stephanie took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Julia and Sam. She was a devoted grandmother who spent every moment she could attending musical and sporting events, watching countless Andy Griffith and I Love Lucy episodes, and making trips to the zoo with her grandchildren.
An avid traveler, Stephanie loved exploring new places, with cherished memories from her journeys to Europe, Alaska, South America, and many trips to Destin. She particularly enjoyed traveling with friends and creating lasting memories during trips to the lake.
In her later years, Stephanie found her greatest joy in serving her church community. She devoted herself to preparing communion, delivering Meals on Wheels, and participating in chair yoga. She retired from the IRS where she was hired as one of the first analysts. She also dedicated countless hours to the Special Olympics, participating in fundraising events and office work, which highlighted her passion for helping others. Additionally, she cherished the time spent with her Messick High School friends, organizing reunions and meeting for regular lunches, which kept those bonds strong and vibrant. She loved time with her friends, especially tailgating and attending Memphis sporting events.
Stephanie is survived by her brother, Michael Rush; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Hornsby. There were many family memories made at the Brigman home pool with nieces and nephews-Keith Hornsby, Lance and Tabitha Hornsby, Linda Johnson, Tommy Brigman, Annie Molina, Jackie Rush, and Kelly Martin.
An active church member and servant to her city-Stephanie now rests absent from the throws of cancer and illness. Her soul can rest and she can join her parents and her heavenly Father after years of selfless giving.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Memphis Area Special Olympics or Balmoral Presbyterian Church.
