Honoring the Life and Legacy of

Sarah Louise Bradley Chumley

Sunrise: August 25, 1940 – Sunset: July 10, 2026

She passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of July 10, 2026. She has gone to be with our LORD in Heaven. She is now reunited with the love of her life and husband of 45 years, James (Jay) Chumley, whom she lost to cancer on July 7, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her beloved son, Jay Chumley Jr., and many other cherished loved ones.

Her Life and Legacy

Sarah grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and was a proud graduate of the Treadwell High School Class of 1958. Throughout her life, Sarah lived fully and meaningfully, rooting herself deeply in love, faith, and community. She found immense joy in music, dancing, and reading. Above all, her favorite pastime was spending time surrounded by her family and friends.

Known for her warm smile, dazzling blue eyes, and outgoing nature, Sarah possessed a rare and generous spirit. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cathy, but her maternal love did not stop there. Sarah opened her heart and her home as a foster mother and served as a safe haven for neighborhood kids, becoming a second mom to countless young people over the years.

Family Left to Cherish Her Memory

Sarah's legacy of unconditional love leaves a lasting mark on her surviving family:

Daughter & Son-in-Law:

Cathy and Tom Joyner of Bartlett, TN

Grandsons, Granddaughters-in-Law and Great-grandchildren:

Alex and Savannah Joyner and their children Adrian and  Skyler of Bartlett, TN

Zach and Bailee Joyner and their daughter Zoey of Munford, TN

Sarah will be deeply missed, but her kindness, warmth, and generous heart will never be forgotten by the many lives she touched.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Romans 12:2 (KJV)
