Obituary

Roger Dale Edwards, 70, of Memphis, Tennessee departed this earth for his heavenly home on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis. He was born in Coldwater, Mississippi on March 23, 1950.

He was a free spirit and enjoyed telling others about many of his strange and funny life experiences. His greatest qualities were truthfulness, generosity, bravery, and humor. He was a calm, take charge presence in time of crisis. He had a great love of music, the great outdoors, the stars in the heavens, and talking with people.

Roger accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by Dr. Rogers at Bellevue Baptist Church on July 30, 1995. Roger mainly worked in HVAC and building maintenance until 1986, when he was injured on the job. He suffered for many years with chronic pain from a failed back surgery, bouts of depression, and a broke heart associated with the death of three cherished family members.

He is finally free of the bondage of chronic pain and the restrictions of oxygen tubes that kept him from reaching the things he held most dear, such as walks in the parks, drives through the countryside, boat rides on the lakes, motorcycles cruises down shady lanes, storytelling around a bonfire, flying a kite, or going to visit a love one. Simple joys that we sometimes take for granted.

"And Jesus said unto him, Assuredly, I say to you, Today, you will be with Me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)

In Paradise above, Roger runs to:

Charley and Rose Edwards (Beloved parents)

Steve (Buz) Edwards and Dwight Edwards (Closely bound brothers)

Shane Edwards (Dearly missed teenage son)

Ma Quarles (Caring Mother-in-law)

Roger leaves to carry on in Faith, Hope and Love:

Vicky Edwards (Loving wife and partner for 43 years)

Scott Edwards (Beloved son)

Dwayne Brooks (Mary) (Beloved son)

Charley and Will Brooks (Beloved grandsons)

Roger was "Out of this World" to many other unidentified human beings, not named above, but you know who you are! Love never dies!!!
