Robert Kinlock
Maley, Ii
Oct 3, 1980 — Sep 4, 2024
Memphis
Robert "Chip" Kinlock Maley II was born to William Frederick Maley and Louise "Wejay" Nevin Maley in Birmingham, Alabama on October 3, 1980. After living in many cities in his early childhood due to his father's career, Chip moved with his family to his parents' hometown of Memphis in 1992.
Chip graduated from Overton High School and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Chip started working at fifteen and spent his entire career working in kitchens, where he made many close friends and mentors. Chip loved skateboarding, riding his bike, throwing the frisbee on a beautiful day, and spending time with his loved ones. He was a wickedly skilled video game player and had a true dark humor. With his recent sobriety, Chip had a reenergized love of food and cooking.
Chip passed away from an acute illness on September 4, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandparents. He is survived by his sister, Catie Maley (Jonathan Neal) of Memphis; niece, Lollie Neal; aunt, Lynn Wells (Trammell) of Oxford, MS; aunt, Roberta Barnett (Mike) of Memphis; and godmother, Tana Reynolds of Memphis, as well as many cousins and loyal friends.
A celebration of life is planned for September 15, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please go enjoy a nice meal in Chip's honor at a local Memphis restaurant in support of a community that cared for him for most of his life.
