Robert F. "Poppy" Hess, 88, of Memphis, Tennessee was born on November 11, 1931 to the late Francis and Alberta Hess. He went to be with his Lord on October 6, 2020.

"Poppy" was a loving husband, father, "Poppy" and friend. He loved bowling, woodworking, golfing with Johnny, being with his family and going to church and singing in the choir. He worked with the Santa House for 37 years and he retired from AT&T.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne Sides Hess of 48 years; sister, Betty Lane Alrutz; and brother, Gene Hess. He is survived by his sister, Mary Hess Lindsey; daughter, Kathy Santucci (Barry); three sons, Frank (Jerri) Hess, Mike Hess, and Tony (Theresa) Hess. He has twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 until mass begins at 12 noon at St. James Catholic Church, 4180 Leroy Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38108 . Interment will be held at Memphis Memory Gardens at the Garden of Everlasting Life.
