Obituary

Richard Wiley Brillard, 75, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on April 12, 2023.  Richard, fondly known as Rick, was born to Frances and Richard Brillard on October 31, 1947, in Waterville, Maine.  He graduated from Messick High School in 1965 and then attended Memphis State University before going to the Navy and touring the world.  After serving, he became a successful salesman from which his experience gave him the idea to encourage his parents to start their family's small business, Brillard Wallcoverings. He got married and had one son, Ricky Brillard, the pride and joy of his life.  He served in local politics as President of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce.  He enjoyed playing golf, cheering on the Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies, and nothing would stop him from watching his son play the game of baseball. Rick didn't need a lot to make him happy – he was rich in joy and you could always see it in his genuine smile. He loved being around his many friends, cutting a rug, making people laugh, and socializing at a party as quite the storyteller, even if he didn't remember all the details. Rick is survived by his son, Ricky (Barbara Jo) and grandchildren (Wyatt and Dean).  He is also survived by his brother, Larry, nephew (Luke Brillard) and niece (Carly Rosmon).  Rick's family will host a visitation at High Point Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 10 – 11 am followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am at Memorial Park in Memphis.  May we all stop and smell the roses and live by Rick's mantra "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's ALL small stuff."
