Peggy Hill Hise, age 97, of Somerville, TN passed away on December 31, 2025 at NHC.  Peggy was born March 28, 1928 in Jackson, MS. to the late Edgar Allen Hill and Ione Blakeney Hill.

She moved to Memphis with her family in her early years and graduated from Humes High School in 1946.  She soon met her first husband, William Luther Herndon.  They married in 1947 and raised three children.  Luther passed away in 1974.

In 1976 she met Charles Norwood at Bellevue Baptist Church and they were married in 1977.  They enjoyed traveling together including a trip to the Holy Land in 1978.  Charles passed away in 1997.

In 1999 she married James C Hise Sr  who passed away in 2009.  She then retired to Somerville TN to be close to family.

Peggy gave her life to Christ as a teenager and was a woman of deep faith, spending many hours in Bible study and praying with her prayer partners, Ernestine Bonnicelli and Vicky Rawdon.  She was active in her churches and loved reading, gardening, camping and shopping as well as spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Patterson, her son William L Herndon Jr and granddaughter, Jennifer Dennis.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Linda Larkin (Jim),Oakland , TN , her son, Allen Herndon (Cheryl), Oakland, TN  and grandchildren Jeremy Dennis (Teresa), Penfield, NY, Josh Herndon (Crystal), Germantown, TN, Matthew Herndon (Lindsay), Arlington, TN,  Sarah Morris (William),Collierville, TN, Andrew Herndon (Taylor) Memphis, TN, Hudson Herndon (Cady), Arlington, TN, Daniel Herndon (Abigail), Bartlett, TN, Ruth Johnson, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Laura Wheeler, Hollywood, FL, and Melanie Herndon, San Diego, CA and eighteen  great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services will be held at High Point Funeral Home, 3788 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN, 38122 on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Following the service, burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN, 38133
