Norma Jean (Paseur) Tapp, age 88, passed away at her home in Bartlett, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Faulkner, Mississippi on October 26, 1930.Norma was the only child of James Austin Paseur and Florence Irene (Rogers) Paseur. Shortly after birth, Austin and Florence along with an infant Norma moved back home with "Papa" Mancel Rogers and "Mama" Fronie (Brown) Rogers. Mama Fronie helped care for baby Norma as she was having health issues because she was such a small baby. Norma was an only child but always counted her Aunt Effie (Rogers) Thornton as her sister, because they spent many of their childhood years growing up together. Norma had a life-long love of singing and was even a member of the Glee Club in High School. When Norma was eighteen, she was set up on a date by her parents with Jewel Truman "J.T." Tapp after his return from his Naval tour of duty. They dated for 2 years and were married March 5, 1950.J.T. and Norma began their family two years later with the arrival of William "Bill" Gordon Tapp on January 11, 1952. Four years later Norma and J.T. welcomed Richard Allan Tapp (Sr.) on September 24,1956. Norma was baptized as an adult at Ellendale Church of Christ. She was a devoted Church of Christ member and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Many of family memories centered around her cooking and mealtime. Norma was always the first to rise because she wanted to start a full breakfast for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.T. Tapp; and a son William "Bill" Tapp. She is survived by her son, Richard A. Tapp, Sr. (Becky); daughter in law, Melanie Moore Tapp. Her family remembers the smells of fresh cooked bacon and homemade biscuits in the morning. Grandma would always be the last to sit down for dinner and the first to her feet to refill your plate or get you anything else you could want. She had the God given gift of hospitality, and you would never left her table hungry. Norma always placed God first, and family second. She lived her life in service to her family to honor her Lord and Savior. We all cherish her devotion. Norma was looking forward to her day to finally be with her Lord and was welcomed into her Father's kingdom November 8, 2018.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 until funeral service begins at 11 a.m. at Ellendale Church of Christ. Interment will be in Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
