He was born February 10, 1947 in Chicago, IL to the late Curtis King of Jackson, MS and Wilda Cleaves MaGee of Memphis, TN. Mike was a graduate in the class of 1965 at Kingsbury High School. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corp reserves for 6 years. His employment career began in the drafting department at Memphis Light, Gas and Water. Mike enjoyed playing golf, and hanging out with all the many friends who loved being with him. For many years through King Kitchens, he played, sponsored and coached softball and basketball teams with the Memphis Park Commission League. After the games the team members were known to have gathered at a local tavern, Poor Red's, where Mike made sure good times were had by all. He had a beautiful smile and a big heart for people. There are many, many, lifelong friends who all have a story to tell about Michael Ray.
