Michael Collins Richardson, Sr.

Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Michael Collins Richardson, Sr., 79, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was born October 4, 1942, to A.T. and Elsie Richardson. Michael moved to Memphis from Charlotte, North Carolina at a young age and was raised by his Aunt Bess and Uncle A.P. Lawing. He attended St. Michael's Elementary School, Christian Brothers High School, Memphis State and proudly served in the Army Reserves. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Royce Ann Richardson; sons, Michael (Jody) Richardson, Frank (Darby) Grisanti and Matthew Coleman; his siblings, Sue Karns, Lou Wykoff and Rusty Richardson; and grandchildren, Bradley, Lindsay, Grayson, Walker and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles Richardson, Johnny Richardson, Betty Wade, Nancy Kendall and Ann Layman. Mike had a successful career in the printing business where he enjoyed calling on customers and forming lifelong friendships. He retired in the last year from Peerless Printing in Memphis. Mike never met a stranger, enjoyed talking to people and would do it with a smile on his face
all day long. Mike enjoyed lunches with friends and family and of course his Friday night Mexican meals. Conversations with Mike would generally lead to something about food or a comical story from his past. Mike also enjoyed backyard patio time with his wife and dachshund and any
neighbors or friends that stopped by to visit. Mike was a role model to so many, including Tom Fontana and Brian Meredith who were like sons to him. You always knew you could pick up the phone or drop in and Mike would always be there. He was an inspiration to so many and will be
missed dearly.
A Memorial Mass will be held on March 28, 2022, 11:00AM, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3863 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN. The family will greet friends at the church at 10:00AM until time of mass.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
