Obituary

Mrs. H. N. Stovall, Martha Ruth Smith, was born on June 14, 1923, in Minor Hill, Tennessee. On April 20, 2021, as her son Michael played guitar and sang to her, she shed the mortal bonds of this Earthly life and entered in to the eternal glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. She is the daughter of Clifton F. Smith and Emma Lee Smith. She had one brother, Hooper Smith. She is survived by Ronald E. Lee Sr. the son of her first marriage to Don Lee, a World War II pilot from Hazen, Arkansas, her grandchildren Ronnie Lee Jr. and Amber Michelle Lee. She is also survived by Michael J. Stovall, the son of her marriage of 69 years to Hubert N. Stovall, who passed away on December 8, 2019. She was a servant of The Lord and a faithful warrior in prayer. She was kind, loving, giving and caring. She was funny, vivacious and exuberant. Always the life of the party. She was successful in all that she did, from her custom bridal parlor, known as The Bridal Shop, at 4646 Poplar in the late 1960s to the jobs she held at Orgill Brothers, Lynn Doyle flowers and her last job at Landers Ford where she worked for over 20 years until she was 90 years old. She was also a previous president of the Memphis Cotton Wives. Most importantly, she was the best Mom and faithful wife ever. At the time of her departure, she was the oldest living member of 1st Baptist Church of Fisherville. She has influenced many and will never be forgotten.
