Mae Evelyn McCune, 93, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness on March, 13, 2022.  Evelyn was born in New Albany, MS to her parents Robert and Tallie Hannah Smithey on October 9, 1928.  She enjoyed her career as a beautician, working in the yard, but her greatest joy was her family.  She leaves a legacy of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother—better known as "Pebo"—to her grand-children and great-grandchildren.  She was a faith-filled parishioner at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Frank B. McCune; her daughter, Madeline Nesmith (Chuck) of Kiawah Island, SC; son-in-law, Joe Winterrowd of Germantown, TN; Grandchildren including Cortney Reeder (Donald) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Joey Winterrowd (Amy) of Collierville, TN; Greg Nesmith (Elizabeth) of Marietta, GA; and Bradley Nesmith (Kiera) of Marietta, GA.  She also will be missed by her wonderful twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister; her daughter, Gloria M. Winterrowd, and her grandson, Jonathan F. Winterrowd.

Family will accept friends from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3863 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN .  A private grave-side service will be held with the family immediately afterward.  High Point Funeral home has charge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christian Brothers High School or St. Jude Research Hospital.
