Obituary

Linda McMaster Flowers of Memphis, TN, 61, passed away on November 18, 2017. She was surrounded by her family and went home to the Lord in peace. She was born on January 26, 1956, in Memphis, TN to James and Louise McMaster.

She is survived by her husband, William Dallas Flowers, Jr; daughters, Ashley Jamieson (Christopher) and Shelley Plunk (Nathan); sons, Trey Flowers (Merillat) and Tyler Flowers; grandchildren, Nolan Plunk, Claire Plunk, Cannon Plunk, McCall Jamieson, Caroline Jamieson, and two other grandchildren on the way; mother, Louise Goode; and in-laws, Bill and Norma Flowers. She was preceded in death by her father, James McMaster; and stepfather, James Goode.

Linda attended Overton High School in Memphis and went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and proudly earned her degree in Deaf Education. After getting married, she and Dallas made their home in Memphis, where she taught at the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf. Linda loved to volunteer and was the co-founder of the local chapter of "Kids on the Block," a traveling puppet show teaching awareness about children with disabilities in local schools. She was also an active member of Les Passees and loved to get involved in helping her community. She always loved teaching, and later in life she spent over a decade tutoring with a devotion to helping underprivileged children succeed in school.

Linda's passion in life was her four children. Throughout her time as a mother, she was known for being their school's room mother, brownie troop leader, Sunday School teacher, and being in the front row of every soccer game and piano recital. Her greatest joys were watching her daughters dance in the Nutcracker, listening to her son preach in church, and watching her youngest teach in the classroom. Linda loved to entertain and she created a party for every occasion. Even if it was just a gathering for a family dinner, Linda loved to make it extra special and thought of every detail.

Linda was known for her strength and loyalty to her family. She was a very loving wife, daughter, sister, and mother. Linda believed in the power of prayer and loved the Lord. She taught her children what it meant to have faith in your heart and how to find courage and strength through God. Linda will be missed by many, and her legacy will live on forever through her children and grandchildren.

The family will host a visitation at Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on December 15th from 3:30pm-4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf.
