Leonard "Lenny" Elmer Davis was born April 2, 1950 in Muskogee, OK, to E.L and Virginia Davis, and moved to Memphis in the early fifties. Lenny attended Germantown Middle and High Schools, and that's when he met some of his dearest and closest friends Steve, Bill, Benny, Max, Chuck, Tom, Mike, James, Wayne and more.
After graduating high school, Lenny worked at Holiday Inn for 20 years.Through that job he sharpened his incredible artistic and rendering talents, and through it he also met Steve and Ken, two more of his favorite guys on the planet.
In 1970 Lenny met Jenny Bew, and they married in 1971.His kids Keri and Chris came along in the mid-seventies, and their adventures as a family began, and continued until the day he died.
Lenny lived a long and full life, filled with love and laughter. He was a fighter, in the best ways possible. He had a quiet strength, an unmatched humility, a curious spirit, and was fiercely loyal.
He loved Tigers basketball, The Shop, his swimming pool, his country, arguing politics, his God, every soldier who ever served, Taco Bell, his nieces and nephews (Lyndsay, Dean, Howard, Elise and Ashly), playing basketball at Gaisman Park or in his backyard, playing euchre with Richard and John, a good steak on the grill, cheese dip, Nana's fried shrimp, being near the water, all the pets his kids drug home, drawing cartoons, his Germantown High School friends, his dad's 53 Ford tractor, building things for his kids, tennis, watching out for his mom and sister, all his pals from Macon Road Church of Christ, Coletta's spaghetti, purple martins, his video camera, the brown van, taking care of others, creating things with his hands, sitting and enjoying the silence, and rainbow popsicles.
He was insanely proud of his kids.
He watched out for those that others forgot.
He helped anyone in need in any way he could.
He was a friend to everyone he met, and everyone was better having known him.
He loved his friends and family with every ounce he had.
Lenny died on Thursday, June 22, 2017. He left this world a much better place than when he entered it.There are few legacies that will ever match his.
Lenny is preceded in death by his parents E.L and Virginia Davis, sister Jean Davis, and brother Eddie Davis. He leaves his wife Jenny, kids Keri and Chris, his brothers-in-law Richard Bew (Jennifer) and John Bew (Donna), and countless friends.
