Obituary

Our son, Kimani aka "Kiwi", went home to be with the Creator on January 14, 2021 at the age of 18 years old. Kimani was truly a bright light in this world!

Kimani had an overflowing heart full of love and it was felt by those who he came into contact with! Charismatic, kind, respectful, joyful, full of laughter, goofy, and always with a big smile on his face. It brought him much joy when he put smiles on peoples faces. His ability to hold a heart to heart meaningful conversation with anyone he came into contact with and connect on a truly deep level was astounding and soul touching. Once you had the opportunity to meet him you would never forget him. Kimani was one to keep the peace and strived to be the voice for those who were unable to speak up for themselves.

Kimani graduated from Bartlett High School in May of 2020 and went on to attend South West Community College. A lover of nature and animals. His ultimate life career goal was to become a Veterinarian or a Forest Park Ranger.

Throughout his life he was involved in many activities such as band (playing the clarinet and drums), Teakwondo (he was a black belt), dance (Beth Cross Center for Dance & Voice), and was a performance art student to which he performed in a variety of plays.

Our world can be too much for souls that are full of light and love. I pray that we as a society can go back to a time when people really cared for one another, loved thy neighbor, and treated each other as brothers and sisters BECAUSE at the end of the day despite our differences we ALL come from the same source.

Words cannot express the loss felt by those who knew and loved Kimani. He leaves behind his parents, 3 brothers, grandparents, a slew of family, and too many friends to count! He was loved by ALL and will TRULY be missed!

Kimani leaves behind his parents Erica & Peter Maina, grandparents Tonya & Darrell Marshall and Francis & Susan Njoroge, his brothers Damian, Dennis, and Emmanuel, his uncles Alex, Antione, and Kelvin and his aunt Hope, and a slew of cousins.

We just give thanks for the time we were able to spend with him while he was here on earth.  Kimani is with the Creator now and I know he is watching over us all. May his soul rest in peace!
