John Dement Whitten, Jr., age 76 of Memphis, TN, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father John Whitten, Sr., mother Elsie (Johnson) Whitten and son John Griffin Whitten. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vasiliki Koleas-Whitten, sister, Linda Abbott, son Scott Whitten, son Joseph Whitten and his wife, Amber, grandson Adam Whitten, grandson Matthew Whitten, grandson, Evan Whitten, grandson Griff Whitten, Jr., and grandson Justin Whitten. John served in the Air Force, Army and Tennessee National Guard. He had a career in the USPS. He enjoyed attending military gun shows and collecting military antiquities. He loved his family very much. He also enjoyed studying his family genealogy.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 28 at High Point Funeral Home & Crematorium, 3788 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38122. Funeral Service and Interment will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN, 38125.

In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
