John Thomas Tanner of Memphis, 93, passed away peacefully Sept. 17, with his daughter Phyllis T. Blount and Granddaughter,  Anna Blount by his side at Methodist Hospice House.

He was an avid golfer his entire life and even made a hole in one. He loved making morning rounds to Gibson's Donuts and McDonald's to enjoy coffee with his friends. He was a Veteran of the Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and lived in Memphis. He became a successful car salesman and was the GM for Pat Patterson Nissan Volvo.

His family was his life . He suffered from dementia his last 6 years of life. His wife of 73 yrs, Elizabeth Tanner was his love and caregiver till she passed away 7 months ago February 3, 2020. He is survived by his only child, his daughter, Phyllis T. Blount (Stan), and his 2 loving Grandchildren, Anna Blount and Austin Blount. A private funeral will be held Sept 29 at West Tennessee VA cemetery where his wife is buried also.
