Jimmie Udell Webster went to heaven on March 16, 2020 at the age of 76. He was born February 11, 1944 in Waynesville, Missouri to Homer and Pansy Webster. Jim is survived by Marlene, his wife of 54 years, and four children: Tony Webster (Juanita) of Lonoke, Arkansas; Jill Bryant (David) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Carrie Wright (Danny) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Sharon Coomes (Lonnie) of Memphis, Tennessee. Jim had the joy of being grandfather to 18 grandchildren. He was thrilled to have four great-grandchildren and knowing two more are expected soon.
Jim received a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education Degree from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia (67) and his Masters in Educational Administration Degree from Bob Jones University (78). He loved teaching and guiding his teachers. His creative talents included writing and directing choir productions, plays, as well as writing and arranging music. The Christian novel he wrote was never published.
He also loved hiking and the outdoors, especially the mountains, and greatly enjoyed cars, especially Fords. His crafting abilities combined with creativity resulted in his completing several unique crafts and often working alongside his children on projects.
Until his health failed, he was always found serving the Lord teaching by Sunday School, playing the piano or organ or directing the choir or serving in whatever way he was needed. His helpful spirit, caring heart for others, and desire to always please God made him loved by most who knew him. Though our family will not be the same without him, we know that he is in Heaven enjoying the music, fellowship of the family saints gone before him and most of all meeting his Savior face to face.
Jim was a member of East Side Baptist Church 3232 Covington Pike, Memphis, TN 38128.

*At High Point Funeral Home, the health and safety of our customers and staff are a top priority. We have been monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and want our friends in the community to know we are taking every precaution to make our Funeral Home a safe place. In this time of uncertainty, I want to reassure our families we are here to serve you, and we are still holding small family services as we understand the human need to celebrate the life of your loved one. However, we are not holding public funerals or visitations until further guidance from the CDC. The CDC has issued a statement to funeral homes through the National Funeral Directors Association.
In Summary:
- Private, family only visitation/service
- Private, family only interments
- No receptions to follow at the funeral home
- Families will be offered a public memorial service free of charge, at a later date to be determined safe by the CDC.
- The CDC recommends no more than 10 people.
We have raised our already high health standards by disinfecting all chapels, visitation rooms and arrangement rooms after each use and have added additional hand sanitizing stations throughout our facilities. Additionally, we have a very
dedicated team, but we have encouraged them to stay home if they begin running fever or having flu like systems.
Thank you for trusting us to serve you,
