Obituary

Jeptha Robeson Bledsoe was born on February 24th, 1944. On February 23rd, 2022, one day before her 78th birthday, she was called home to Heaven.

Jeptha was born in Memphis, Tennessee to loving parents Ralph Watson Bledsoe and Frances Montgomery Burrow Bledsoe. Jeptha had three older sisters, Sarah Ann, Emily Jane, and Ethel Elizabeth. She also had one younger brother, Ralph Watson Jr.

Jeptha graduated from Nicholas Blackwell (Bartlett) High School in 1962, where she met future husband Bobby Scott Rust. Bobby and Jeptha were married later that year. Bobby joined the Navy not long after, and in May of 1963, the couple welcomed their first son, Jeffrey Scott Rust. After his tour of duty, Bobby joined the Memphis Police Department in 1965. In December 1966, the family welcomed their second son, Bradley Robeson Rust.

Jeptha trained to be a dental assistant and began her career in the practice of orthodontist Dr. Walter Richardson. She remained on this path for many years, retiring in 2017 after a successful tenure with the practice of Dr. Fred Piper.

Jeptha and Bobby were both talented musicians who passed their love of music on to their sons. Jeptha was a long-time member of Richland Baptist Church Choir until the church closed its doors. Afterwards, Jeptha joined Mullins United Methodist Church and sang in their choir. Jeptha also lent her sweet soprano voice to the Memphis Symphony Chorus, performing with the group for several years. She was very generous, giving both time and finances to several charitable organizations including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, and The Memphis Union Mission.

Jeptha passed away peacefully with her sons, Jeff and Brad, and her eldest granddaughter Haley, by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Frances, Husband Bobby, Sister Sarah Ann, and brother Ralph. She is survived by her sisters, Emily and Ethel, her loving sons, Jeff and Brad Rust, their respective wives, Amy and Brandy Rust, her adoring grandchildren and grandson-in-law, Will and Haley King, Kendall Rust, Savannah Rust, and Bradley Rust (all of Brad Rust) as well as Colin Rust (of Jeff Rust).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, The Memphis Union Mission, or to Mullins United Methodist Church.
