Janice Atkins Walker, 91, was born in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Henry and Jessie Atkins. She was raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse at Conemaugh Valley Memorial School of Nursing.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph H. (Buck) Walker. She is survived by her son, Joseph H. (Joe) Walker II (Wendy); daughter, Jacque Higdon (Darrell); sisters, Doris Prentice of Chambersburg, PA and Pauline Godfrey of Denham Springs, LA; grandsons, Kevin Higdon (Katie), Sean Walker and Patrick Walker; and great-grandchildren, Alice Higdon and Walker Higdon. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who also held a special place in her heart.

Mrs. Walker moved to Trezevant Manor in 2009, and enjoyed her close friendships and service as a volunteer in the library. The family wishes to thank the staff at Trezevant Manor and Trezevant Terrace for their compassionate care during the past 11 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faith Baptist Church or The Trezevant Foundation.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 19 at 11:30 AM at Faith Baptist Church ( 3755 N. Germantown Road; Bartlett 38133 ) with services following at 12:30.
