Dr. Jamie Len Blackwell, age 70, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on February 6, 2024, after a long illness. She is survived by her family members: Jeannine Pelham Blackwell (mother), Laura Blackwell Clark (sister), Beth Blackwell Cross (sister), Tony Hernandez, Charles "Chuck" Minarik, and many nieces and nephews and grands who called her "Dr. Aunt Jamie".  Jamie's life was also enriched by her many precious pups, especially Theo and Bear.  She was preceded in death by her father, James A. "Bubba" Blackwell, her brother James A. "Jimmy" Blackwell and her infant brother, Robert Lloyd "Bobby" Blackwell.

Jamie was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt and a friend to many.  She followed her calling to go into medicine, first as a registered nurse and then as a physician specializing in emergency pediatrics.  She was a talented musician, and a fiercely independent woman who marched to the beat of her own drum. She was a resilient, long-term survivor of cancer, overcoming many obstacles in her long life.  She was unique and unforgettable, and she will be missed by many who loved her.  May she rest in peace.

On February 24, there will be a visitation (10AM) and a funeral mass (11AM) at Catholic Church of the Incarnation, 360 Bray Station Rd, Collierville, TN, 38017.  The family invites you to gather afterward at the church to share food and stories of Jamie in a memorial celebration of her life.
