James Larry (Jim) Terry, 78, passed into the arms of Jesus on September 6, 2026. Jim was born June 25, 1948 in Memphis, TN where he was baptized at Frayser Baptist Church at the age of 12. Jim resided in Memphis most of his life but also lived in MA, FL, NY and PA during US Coast Guard station assignments. Jim served in the US Coast Guard for 20 years and was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm 1990-91.

Jim was baptized at Frayser Baptist Church at the age of 12.  He was a 1966 graduate of Frayser High School where he was a member of the Cross Country Team.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents James B. Terry Jr. and Alta Marshall Terry. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Leigh Thomson (Jeff), grandson Colin Thomson, granddaughter Lily Thomson of Bedford, NH, and sister Marsha Terry Rider (Raymond) of Olive Branch, MS.  Jim leaves behind many cousins and friends in Memphis and the Mid-south area.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday Sept. 18, 2026, 1pm at Highpoint Funeral Home's Chapel.  A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the person's choice.
