Ernest Carlisle Johnson died peacefully on November 22, 2020 in Covington, Tennessee at the age of 92.

Ernest is survived by 1 brother, Richard; 3 children, Barbara, Debbie and John; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Johnson, and his daughter, Linda.

Ernest was born on August 15, 1928 to Raiford and Clara Johnson. He grew up in Memphis before joining the Army in 1946. Ernest spent six years in service including fighting in the Korean War. During his military service, he married the love of his life, Margie Johnson. Over the 50+ years of their marriage, the couple welcomed 4 children into their home. His children remember him as a hard working and caring father who did whatever it took to make ends meet. Ernest spent a majority of his career as an engineering technician with Grace Chemical Company.

He was a witty and caring individual who always put others first including caring for Margie under her last days. He was passionate about fitness whether that be cycling (known to ride 40+ miles a day well into his 70's) or boxing (known to keep up with his speed bag also well into his 70's). He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A private burial is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 2020.
