Elizabeth Ann
Hooser
Jun 23, 1925 — Jan 13, 2021
Germantown
Elizabeth Ann Cocke Hooser was born on a cold morning on June 23, 1925 near Clover Hill, Mississippi to Andrew B. Cocke, and Ida Mae Stuart Cocke. She grew up in Lyon, MS, and graduated from Clarksdale High school. She later attended Mississippi College for Women, and Bowling Green (KY) business college, where she met the love of her life, John M. Hooser. They married in 1949, and remained in Lyon for many years, until they moved to Memphis.
She taught kindergarten at First United Church in Clarksdale, and ran into many of her students later in life, which always pleased her. She was a member of the DAR, and enjoyed her years at Calvary Episcopal Church, where she was active. She had the ability to connect a person she might meet to someone she already knew, with her gracious Southern charm.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John, and leaves two sons, J. Stuart Hooser of Germantown, and C. Clark Hooser of Memphis. She had 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, and never met a stranger.
She passed away in the care of Methodist Hospital in Germantown on January 13, 2021. Thanks to all of her caregivers as she appreciated all of you very much.
Funeral services will be scheduled at a later time due to COVID. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Lyon United Methodist Church in Lyon, MS, or Calvary Episcopal Church in Memphis.
