Dolores Kathryn (Lupo) Zimmer, 80, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born in Rochester, NY on December 28, 1940 to Charles P. and Kathryn E. Lupo, both deceased. Mrs. Zimmer is survived by her twin daughters Lora L. Strauss (Michael) and Lisa M. Smithmier (Shane) and her grandchildren Luke, Jake and Kaley Smithmier, Meghan Bohr (Austin), Abi Forrest (Nolan) and Gretchen and Izzy Strauss. Dee is happily reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas H. Zimmer, also formerly of Germantown, TN. Dee was a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with an education degree and spent many years teaching in Rochester as well as in the Memphis Catholic School system. Dee was a devoted wife, mother, loving Dede to her grandchildren and a caring friend and neighbor to many. Always welcoming, Dee never met a stranger, loved to work in the yard, share cooking and baking recipes, volunteered in her neighborhood association and in her community with the Germantown charity horse shows for many years. Dee cherished her time with her daughters and their families. Dee had a host of friends and family to assist and love her through her recent health trials especially her loving caregivers Frazel Ford, Sabrina White, Christine Garrett and Stephanie Coats.

A visitation for Dee Zimmer will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022 until the Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN. Interment will be 1 p.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery along side her husband, Tom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dee's name may be made to the ALS Foundation of the Mid South Chapter, 2095 Exeter Road, Suite 80-330, Germantown, TN, 38139.
