Collins R.
Marquette
Feb 21, 1933 — Jun 13, 2025
Collins Robert "Mark" Marquette, a cherished family man, skilled craftsman, and dedicated serviceman, passed away of natural causes on June 13, 2025, at the age of 92 in Austin, Texas. Born on February 21, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mark's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unassailable sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.
Mark was married to his childhood sweetheart Thelma for 61 years. After their retirement they both enjoyed giving back to the community through their work with Meals on Wheels. After her Alzheimer's diagnosis, Mark took care of Thelma until her death in 2017. He moved to Austin in 2019 to be closer to family - a special time for all of us. He has sorely missed Thelma and we know he's delighted to be reunited with her now.
Mark proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, a period during which he honed his innate skill of working with his hands and fixing anything that came his way. After his military service, he dedicated another 20 years to Southern Railway, where his expertise and commitment further solidified his reputation as a reliable and hard-working individual.
Mark's memory will be forever cherished by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma Marquette, and their daughter, Letitia Marquette. He leaves behind his son, Danny Marquette, and daughter-in-law, Terrie Marquette. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Joshua Marquette and his wife, Sarah Marquette; Amanda Cargill and her husband, Christopher Cargill; Jeremy Marquette; and Kathryn Marquette, daughter of Letitia.
His family takes comfort in knowing that he lived a complete and happy life, surrounded by those he loved and who loved him dearly in return. As we say goodbye, we do so with the understanding that while his time on this earth has ended, his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, Mark; you have left this world better than you found it.
