Billy Ray
Newcomb
Jan 12, 1935 — Dec 28, 2024
Memphis
Billy Ray Newcomb, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at the age of 89 in Memphis, TN. He was born on January 12, 1935, in Corinth, Mississippi, to Frank and Mandy Newcomb, who instilled in him the values of hard work, faith, and community service.
Billy's life was a testament to love and dedication. He married the love of his life, Anna Marie Hobbs, on November 6th 1965. Their union was blessed with four beautiful children: Juwana Agent, Laura Newcomb, Tim (Sandra) Newcomb, James (Carla) Newcomb. His family was always his pride and joy, and he took immense pleasure in watching his children grow and thrive. Billy was also a doting grandfather to his grandchildren: Amanda (Cesar), Justin, Jake, TJ (Rachel), Zachery (Aleshia), and Baylee. He found tremendous joy in his great-grandchildren: Cody, Gabriel, Ava, Brinley, Blakely, and Tripp.
Billy was a man dedicated to service, not just to his family, but also to his community. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959, stationed in Germany, an experience that shaped his character and commitment to service. Upon returning home, he worked 44 years as a supervisor at Anderson Tully Lumber Co., where he was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to bring out the best in those around him.
A deeply spiritual man, Billy loved attending church and was actively involved in various ministries throughout his life. He particularly enjoyed preaching at local nursing home for many years, sharing his faith and bringing comfort to those in need. His compassion and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mandy Newcomb, brother's Phillip, Wayne, JB, and Larry Newcomb, and sister Hedy Wigington, and son in law Paul Agent. He is survived by his devoted wife Anna Marie, his four children, and his loving siblings, Sue Hill and JoAnn (Charles) Keenum, who will carry his legacy forward.
Billy's life was one of purpose, love, and unwavering strength. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for the warmth and light he brought into the lives of others. As we celebrate his life, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
