Obituary

Arlan Vance (Van) Beasy Jr. passed away on February 9, 2022, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 74 years old.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi, Van spent his early years in Lake Providence, Louisiana, and Greenwood, Mississippi, and graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in business administration. Settling in Greenwood then Memphis, Van enjoyed careers in insurance sales, insurance plan development, and accounting, before retiring in 2017. He created one of the very first prescription discount cards ever available.

Van was a devoted son, husband, daddy, father figure, grandfather, and friend, as his gentle, quirky, fun-loving nature and ease of conversation revealed his genuine interest in people. He was a member and a treasurer of St. George's Episcopal Church, Germantown.

Van is survived by his wife, Janet Painter Beasy; a son, Robert Beasy (Meghan Cloud Beasy) of Germantown; daughters, Dana Ramsey (Robert Ramsey) of Collierville, and Leslie Odom (TJ) of Brevard, NC; Glenn Ramsey (Jim Maynard) of Memphis, and James Ramsey (Sonya) of Memphis; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at St. George's Episcopal Church 2425 S. Germantown Road with visitation beginning at 1:00 and services at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Memphis and St. George's Episcopal Church, Germantown.
