Anderson William Perry, Jr., passed away on May 28, 2022, at the age of 71, in Memphis, TN. Born on October 31, 1950, in Lake City, FL, to Jeanette Dawkins and Anderson William Perry, Sr., he was raised by his father and his paternal aunt, Frances. Perry was a 1968 graduate of Richardson High School, where he was valedictorian, and a 1972 graduate of Florida A&M University, where he was again valedictorian, earning a B.S. degree in chemistry and serving as Polemarch (President) of the Alpha Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. After a 30-year career with AT&T, Inc., Perry taught calculus in retirement at Hollis F. Price High School on the campus of LeMoyne-Owen College. An active member of the Memphis community, he was an elder with Community of Faith Christian Church; a Kappa Life Member and member of the fraternity's Germantown Alumni Chapter; and, with his wife, the former Barbara Ann Burgess, a member of the Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale. Married to Barbara on December 30, 1978, and for 43 and 1/2 years, he is survived by her and by their two adult sons, Gadson William, aged 39, and Derek Anderson, aged 33.
